What’s Opt-Out ?

Currently all public schools must release student’s private information (name, address, phone number, standardize test scores, income, race and social security number) to military. Then recruiters use that information about you to try and convince you to join the military.  They’ll come to you house and call you at home!!  But it’s your right as a student to Opt-Out to get off the militaries list.  All you have to do is fill out an Opt-Out form!!

What is a Walk-Out?

A walkout is when you leave school to protest something our government is doing that you don’t agree with, but it must be with all your classmates, on the same day, at the same time.  Just like in 2003 when over 3,000 local students walked out of school the day President Bush starting bombing Iraq!!  This year on November 2nd students from all over the country from Washington DC to New York to Minneapolis to Seattle will walkout of school to protest the Iraq war, military recruiters in our schools and our information (name, number, address, test scores, race, income and social security number) being handed over to military recruiter.

Why a walk-out?

Send the message to present Bush and the world- we don’t want to fight and die for this war.   Student protests are very powerful!  Did you know it was student protests that helped end the Vietnam War.?

You have the power to make change and now is the time!  Bush is losing public support and more and more Americas want the Iraq war to end.  We, as young Americans are beginning to feel the pain of war as over 1,800 U.S. soldiers have died some from our local communities.  10,000 U.S. soldiers have been physically injured know any of them?

Free All Day Music Event and Food!!

The day of the walkout you will leave schools and march through the streets then you will go to a free all day music event with food.  You get to hang out and watch local rock, hip-hop and punk bands with your friends!   There will also be spoken word, poetry, theater and speeches by local youth activists.

Why get involved?

Help plan the walkout. Help plan the event.
